Expert key note speakers bring cutting-edge knowledge of their subject with an emphasis on science and research that can be incorporated into everyday clinical practices. Members’ case history presentations bring real-life patient-based experience on the specialist subject matter, while the afternoon workshops allow connections to be made between members old and new, and an opportunity to share valuable knowledge and experience. Seminars can be attended in person or online and are recorded for the CPP catalogue of webinars which can also be purchased by members at a later date.

  • Access to the Natural Medicines Pro (NatMed Pro) database where you can find up-to-date monographs on a large number of herbs and nutritional supplements. The herbal and supplement monographs contain clinically valuable information regarding the evidence base, safety, adverse effects, pharmaceutical interactions and contraindications etc. Pharmacokinetics and mechanisms of action information are also given, where known.
  • Weekly research updates to your inbox from the American Botanical Council on plant-based medicine and nutrition 
  • Research reports from the dedicated CPP Education committee  Thorough documents that provide easily digestible summaries of the most up-to-date published herbal medicine papers.
  • Findings from the CPP’s new Herbal Antimicrobial Resistance Working group which has recently been set up.
  • Membership of the European Herbal and Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association (EHTPA) supporting standards and research in herbal medicine, practitioner supplies and herbal medicine training in the UK. This also allows access to ETHPA online seminar recordings on topics such as red flags, herbal medicine and the law and up-and-coming subjects such as case history taking and blood test analysis. Two members of our CPP Council sit on council for EHTPA. More about the functions if the EHTPA can be seen here ehtpa.org. CPP members are able to be use the EHTPA Practitioner HerbMark in their practice advertising to highlight the high quality of their training ehtpa.org/consult-a-trusted-herbalist-look-out-for-the-herbmark/ .
  • The CPP’s collaborative relationship with the British Herbal Medicine Association (BHMA). The BHMA works closely with the producers of herbal medicine supplies and have set up the Herbal Practitioners Suppliers Scheme (HPSS) and the BHMA HerbMark. This provides assurance to practitioners that accredited manufacturers and distributors are working to best practice, providing them with high quality and safe products for use by their patients bhma.info/hpss/
  • Free Student membership which allows students all the benefits of full membership to help during their studies.
  • Alerts on matters related to safe and effective herbal practice as and when they arise.
  • Access to the CPP’s Annual General Meeting usually held in October
  • A buddy system for new and established members on request, allowing links with experienced members of the CPP to reduce isolation in practice and to build confidence. 
  • Attention of the CPP Council to the strategic and day-to-day business of the CPP on our members’ behalf. 

Assistance from Council. The CPP Council are friendly, collaborative and approachable and help members with problems that may arise in their practices.
